Benefits of purchasing a home in Chicago

Why choose Chicago? Whether you're thinking about moving here for the first time, or considering a long-term home purchase, here are a few of my favorite things about my hometown.

Number one for me is affordability. Chicago's housing market remains one of the most affordable big-cities in the country. The median home price here is $340,000 where comparable cities are more than twice that amount. This can make it a more appealing option for first-time home buyers or those looking to upgrade to a larger home. And, Chicago has a strong and stable real estate market, with relatively low rates of foreclosures compared to other cities.

Another thing I love about Chicago is our access to our world-class level of cultural amenities: museums, theater, live music, and fine dining. Plenty of options for date night indeed! A personal favorite pastime of mine is the access to the lakefront trails where you can spend the day checking out our skyline while walking, running, cycling or swimming along the 17-mile trail that spans the length of the city.

And finally, in a city with 77 unique neighborhoods, Chicago's extensive public transportation system and protected bicycle lanes makes it convenient to commute by bus or train. In fact, more and more folks are going without a car nowadays in exchange for public transportation and riding their bicycles.

Ready to consider a move to the big city? Let’s grab a coffee and chat about the homebuying process. Cheers!
